Fernando Vichi (Australia X Pernica) came late and was beaten by a nose in his first run on the 9th of July and showed that he may be well above average. In this EBF Maiden at Leopardstown he started at the prohibitive odds of 1/2 and won by 3 lengths going away. This one mile trip is the shortest he needs and his true merit will probably be seen as a 3YO over middle distance.
He is the third foal of the winning mare Pernica. His half brother by Kodiac races in Sweden and is a winner there. His trainer says he will next be aimed at a group race over a mile.
Pernica has a Churchill foal on the ground and is back in foal to Churchill.
