Soaring Star (Starspangled Banner X Peig) had finished in the frame in four of his five previous starts so victory was overdue as he headed to Ayr on August 24th. Starting at the short priced even money favourite and carrying a 5 lbs weight disadvantage with the rest of the field, he did not leave his supporters down and made light of the task. Having been running over 7 furlongs he may have found his ideal distance in being brought back to 6. On this occasion he made all the running and when shaken up at the 2f mark he won by a comfortable two lengths with a further five lengths back to the third.
Soaring Star is the second winner out of the young mare Peig as her 2YO named Grantley won first time out last month.
