When Broome won the listed Devoy Stakes at Naas on March 28th, his trainer Aiden O’Brien said he would be aimed at all the top GR1 races at home and abroad during the rest of the year.  He mentioned he would take in the Alleged Stakes (GR3) at The Curragh on April 17^th before the Tattersalls Gold Cup (GR1) on May 22nd.  All Broome’s followers took note and backed him down to 1/2 favourite for the Alleged.  Many thought Ryan Moore left it too late, being four lengths adrift at the furlong pole but both horse and jockey knew what they were doing when winning by half a length at the finish and drawing away.

With just two runs as a 4YO Broome is now showing the promise he displayed at 2 and at 3 when just beaten half a length at the Epsom Derby.  His 2YO full brother is also trained by Aiden O’Brien and everyone is looking forward to seeing him on the track in mid summer.  Eleven of Broome’s thirteen runs have been in stakes races where he has won four and been placed in two.  His total earnings now exceed €400,000, which should be boosted significantly as the year progresses.
