So Darn Right (Too Darn Hot X Leafhopper) is the first foal of his dam, herself a multiple winner. With the exciting young sire, Too Darn Hot producing multiple winners in both the northern and southern hemispheres Japan is now seeing how good the progeny now are on the racecourse.
So Darn Right made his racecourse debut in Tokyo on October 26th finishing 5th and beaten less that three lengths. Returning to the same track on November 23rd, to race over a shorter seven furlongs, he broke well from the stalls and led from start to finish. When some in the large field of eighteen runners came to challenge at the 2f mark he immediately quickened clear and at the post had 1½ lengths to spare over the short priced favourite.
Leafhopper’s second foal died shortly after birth but she is due to produce a No Nay Never in mid January. A mating has been arranged with Too Darn Hot in 2025.
